Diabetes Guidelines
In 2003, the Canadian Diabetes Association published a detailed set of guidelines about the prevention and management of diabetes. In 2006, some sections of these guidelines were updated with new information. Click here to view a full version of the guidelines.
These guidelines help your doctor or other health care professional:
- Determine whether you have prediabetes or diabetes
- Recommend lifestyle changes that will help to control your blood glucose level
- If necessary, prescribe appropriate medications to help keep your blood glucose level within a healthy range
- Identify and manage other conditions that are being caused or affected by your diabetes
