Cholesterol Levels

How Do I Determine My Blood Cholesterol Level?

Your cholesterol level is determined by a simple blood test that can be performed in minutes. A full cholesterol test determines the amount of LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglycerides and total cholesterol in your blood. The amount of cholesterol is measured in units called millimoles per litre (mmol/L) of blood.

Your physician will advise you whether a full cholesterol test is required. Test results should always be discussed with a doctor or health care professional familiar with your medical history, current state of health, and other cardiovascular risk factors.
