The Role of a Sedentary Lifestyle in Cardiovascular Disease

Physical inactivity appears to increase the risk of developing coronary artery disease – disease of the blood vessels arteries that supply the heart muscle with blood. Studies have found that regular physical activity (i.e. 30-60 minutes of moderate physical activity, most days of the week) reduces this risk. Physical activity can also help to maintain a healthy weight, reduce high blood pressure, lower cholesterol levels, manage stress and cut your risk of heart disease and stroke.
